Tokyo Raven Anime [Quick Review]

Tokyo Raven is a novel - manga to anime inspired story involving Magic, Shikigami and the reincarnation of Yakou. A genius in Magician who has many followers even to the present day. A world where the only disaster naturally happen involving spirits. So, natural disaster doesn't matter here huh..

Harutora was adopted into the branch family because his existence must be hidden to prevent any disaster from happening with all Yakou's follower who has been engrossed waiting for his reincarnation. His existence as Yakou incarnation was filled by Natsume who was orinally from the branch family.

Natsume Tsuchimikado

• Age:16-18

• Modest.

• Tsundere.

• The real pupper of Hokuto (a girl that always hangs out with Harutora).

• Stern when teaching Harutora.

• Girl using magic to disguise other into thinking she was male.

• Been having a crush on Harutora since childhood.

• A student of Omnyo academy.

• Double body for the original son of the Main Family Branch of Tsuchimikado, Harutora.

• Able to summon the Tsuchimikado Main Family Dragon, Hokuto though she has yet to manifest its true power.

• Died while trying to save Harutora.

• Was revived with Taizan Fukun Ritual done by Harutora (her life was linked to the Tsuchimikado's main family dragon, Hokuto.

There had been a time where Natsume made some sort of paper doll that could interact as if it was living a life on its own. Using Hokuto as an alias, she mingles with Harutora as his childhood friend in his everyday life without him knowing. But that dream doesn't last long as she used "Hokuto" to protect Harutora.

Natsume dies and were taken away by Harutora/Yakou to be revived once more.

Touji Ato

• Age: 17-19

• Illegimate child of a man and his mistress = often referred as demon.

• Former deliquent (He does look like one).

• Possesed by Ogre (Stage 4 Spiritual Disaster).

• Became a Hybrid-ogre resulting from the spiritual disaster, he can change his physical and uses the orge's ability.

• A student of Omnyo academy.

• Used to beat the crap out of Harutora because of his unstability while being treated by Harutora's adopted father. (The reality is he was jealous of Harutora's life, especially Harutora's smile).

• Best buddies with Harutora.

Suzuka Dairenji

• Age: 15-17

• A sadist who puts up a cute front to impress other people.

• Known as the young prodigy because she became one of the 12 Divine Generals at a young age.

• Searching for the reincarnation of Yakou to bring his only brother to life using forbidden magic (Taizan Fukun Ritual)

• "Mistook" Harutora as Natsume Tsuchimikado and kissed him infront of Hokuto (Natsume's paper doll).

• Went into Omnyo academy later because she loses her power and its as a punishment for using forbidden magic, the Taizan Fukun Ritual.

• Has an unrequited love towards Harutora.

Kyouko Kurahashi

• Age: 16-18

• A student of Omnyo academy.

• Thought Natsume Tsuchimikado as a rival (one sided on her side) and secretly, mistaken Natsume as a love interest because a young boy of the Tsuchimikado family once helped her to find her ribbon.

• Sees Harutora as a hindrace between her and Natsume's rivalry.

• It was revealed that Harutora was the one his actual love interest and not Natsume.

• Later develops love interest towards Harutora rivaling against Natsume.

Tenma Momoe

Tenma

• Age: 16-18

• A student of Omnyo academy

• The only son and successor of what's left of the Momoe family and Witchcraft Corporation (a company that develops magic seals or shikigami for military and personal use. Every creation was designed by his late parents)

• Included inside Hamatora's circle of friend.

• Age: 16-18

• The remaining direct decendant of Souma main family.

• The current leader of her clan.

• It is said that her family originates from royalty and of being a shrine maiden.

• One of the Twin Horn Syndicate Member who wanted to fulfill Yakou's last wish.

• It is unknown whether she was a student to the Omnyo academy or not.

• Took disguise under the form of Atsumi Hirata who was in charge of handling the Twin Horn Syndicate case.

• She gave Harutora/Yakou his Raven's wings

The anime acceptable, I think. But at some point,there's quite a few thing that just doesn't quite feel right like:

1. How Takiko was even a student of the Omnyo academy when others have never seen her nor heard of her existence.

2. Somehow Hokuto (Dragon) can be summoned by Natsume when it was told that only those from the main family could summon it. Quite one hardworking girl we got there, yeah?

3. After Harutora revived Natsume by linking her life with Hokuto(Dragon), somehow I felt that the love "Harutora" once has for Natsume turned into.. kind of family love? or that's just Yakou's personality (coolly expressing his love)
